Show Special Musical Course Offered Throuqh SUCCE Question: What do Hector Berlioz and George Gershwin have in common? Answer: Works of both composers (and six others) are part of spring listening fare for Music 40 1 (Masterpieces of Music) the newest Utah State University Music Department class, being offered through SUCCE this spring. The class is designed for all who have an interest in music and who would like to increase their enjoyment by discovering more about how the composer puis the music together. Knowledge of music notation and formal training in music arc not necessary in order to lake the class. Also being offered this spring will be Music 102 (Music Fundamentals). The aim of this course is to develop in the student a basic-understanding basic-understanding of rhythmic, melodic and harmonic aspects I of music. With such understanding, under-standing, the further objective is that the student will be enabled to use his knowledge in practical and creative musical projects and original compositions. And finally, as a continuation continua-tion of Music 334-336 (Group Ensemble) which was taught in Moab during winter quarter as the "Bicentennial Chorus," this class will again beopen to anyone interested in singing with a group under the direction of Stephen A.
