Show Services Held j for Former Moabite 1 Funeral services for Benito E. Vigil, 50, former Moab ! resident, were held at the Chapel of Palms in Stockton, Calif., Thursday, March 11. Benito died March 6 of complications following surgery. surg-ery. He was born in Moab Nov. 1, 1925 to Epifanio E. and Ella Garcia Vigil. He attended Grand County schools until leaving for Richmond, Calif., where he worked in the shipyards. He returned home to enlist for World War II, where he fought in three major campaigns including the Battle Bat-tle of the Bulge. He sustained severe injuries and remained abroad for some time in a hospital during which time the family did not know his whereabouts until he returned home in stockings since his feet were frozen in the trenches of Germany. He has made his home in California where he was a welder for Holly Sugar Co., and other companies in the area of Stockton. He was married and divorced. , Surviving are three sisters, Rosalie Robertson and Beatrice Beat-rice Luckinbill of Moab, and Mrs. Ben (Genevieve) Marshall, Mar-shall, Albuquerque, N.M. Mrs. Robertson flew down to California and was at her brother's bedside since being notified on Feb. 22. Burial was in San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in Stockton, Calif. |
