Show FIRST FOREST SERVICE COMMEMORATIVE STAMP GOES ON SALE IN ARIZONA OCT. 27 The 4-cent Forest Conservation commemorative stamp, which goes on first-day sale on Oct. 27 at Tucson, Ariz., at the annual meeting of the American Forestry Association, will be printed in three colors on the Giori press in yellow, brown, and green... The stamp, 0.84 by 1.44 inches, arranged vertically, verti-cally, features the major aspects of forest conservation, in- eluding new growth of young' frees and the harvesting of mature timber under scientific scien-tific forest management; home and shelter for wildlife and birds; and protected watersheds. water-sheds. This first Forest Conservation Conserva-tion stamp in history commemorates com-memorates the 100th anniversary anniver-sary of the birth of Theodore Roosevelt, one of the earliest forest conservationists in the country. It also salutes the many private and public, agencies agen-cies which have played a large part in the progress made in the protection and wise use of the nation's natural resources. The Forest Conservation ( stamp was designed by Rudolph Ru-dolph Wendelin, staff artist for the United States Department Depart-ment of Agriculture.
