Show Oil painting to be taught in July Arnold Vail of Irving, Texas will be teaching an oil painting workshop July 5-10 in the Junior High Cafeteria. Vail has been an artist, cartoonist, sign painter, caracaturist, stage scenic painter all of his life. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vail will furnish the oil paint, but the students will need to bring the following things the first day of class: 5 18x24 canvas boards, paint thinner and a container, 1 large tube of permanent pigment gel, 8 hot paper cups, (do not bring styrofoam, plastic, cold cups or glass), paper towels, bags for waste paper, pallette, easel (stand up easel), small table for your paint containers, palette, etc., 1 No. 5B or 6B graphite pencil, 1 pocket knife and your brushes and painting knife. Vail recommends four brushes for painting landscapes: 1" cutter-(sign painter's bristle brush, like Langnickel No. 998), No. 2 or No. 3 flat bristle brush (like Simmons filbert No. 42), No. 9 or No. 10 flat bristle brush (like Simmons filbert No. 42), and No. 10 or No. 2 watercolor lettering brush (like Simmons No. 50).
