Show Teens compete for pageant title Thirty-three excited teenagers from all over the state will compete in the 1982 Utah Teenworld Pageant to be held at the Four Seasons Motel in St. George on Saturday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. The contestants, age 14 thru 18, are judged on scholastic and civic achievement, poise and personality. Each contestant must maintain a B or better school grade average, and contribute at least 10 hours of service to a charity of their choice. Each girl must present her own personal talent, or write and recite an essay on the subject, "My Place in the World." No swimsuit competition is required. Prizes for the pagent include a scholarship to Weber State College, scholarships to the College of Eastern Utah, scholarships to Barbizon School of Modeling, and television sets. The pageant is the official state-wide finals for the Teenworld Pageant to be held in Orlando, Florida in December. Teenworld Pageant is affiliated with the Special Olympics and the Get High on Yourself Association. Utah is proud of these wonderful girls, and will be watching with much interest the pagent taking place on Saturday evening under the guiding hand of Jeannine Lewis, emcee, and Carolyn C. Lewis, state director. Deborah Dutson, 1981 Miss Utah Teenworld, will be present to crown the new queen. |
