Springville FFA Team Takes First In County Land-Judging Contest The Springville high school Future Fu-ture Farmer team composed of Gordon Thorpe, Don Phillips and : Jesse Warren, won the Utah county coun-ty land judging contest held near Springville on Wednesday of last week. Participating in the contest I were FFA teams from Spanish t ' Fork, Payson, Provo, Pleasant I Grove and Lehi in addition to V Springville. I The winning team was present-it present-it ea a plaque on which their names " Wul be engraved. At the end of . seven years, during which time the "test will be held annually, the ' r001 which has won the greatest y number of times, will get the plaque permanently. Payson was the winning school last year. The Springville team was instructed in-structed by Loren Phillips, high school agriculture teacher. Supervising Super-vising the contest judging was Lowell Woodard, soil conservation service soils specialist of Provo. The contest was sponsored by the three soil conservation districts in Utah county, and held at sites representing different land capabilities capa-bilities and soil conditions. Previous to the finals, the Springville, Provo and Orem FFA competed and Springville came out far in the lead with Don Phillips being hibh point man on the team scoring 76 points of a possible 8S. |
