FFA Boys Receive Numerous Awards Presentation of awards for outstanding out-standing accomplishment in the field of agriculture featured the dinner meeting of the Kiwanis club on Thursday of last week when FFA boys of the high school and their leader Loren Phillips were guests of the club and the Springville Banking Co. To F. C. Packard and Arvil Bird went special honorary member awards for their contributions and aid to the chapter. Gordon Thorpe and Milton Beck were presented plaques as outstanding out-standing farmers in the chapter and Gordon as the outstanding officer. of-ficer. Other awards for work done went to Don Phillips, in public speaking; Kent - Murdock, dairy; Jim Jeffers, Milton Beck, Richard Barker, ticket sales. Chain projects went to Glen Cherrington, Wendell Bird, sheep, donated by Loren Phillips, and Milton Beck for pigs donated by the Kiwanis club and the bank, Bill Pulsipher, Paul Hartley, Ted Leslie, Scott Hutchings, Blaine Twitchell and Oren Quarenburg. Rowley Curtis, past state president presi-dent of FFA spoke to the group on his trip to the national convention conven-tion and Elvin Downs discussed the importance of agriculture work and owning one's farm. Milton Beck gave an outline of the achiev-ments achiev-ments of the club this year. Verl Diamond, president this year, accepted $15 which was the local chapter's share of the state award of $60 divided among those chapters which rated superior. |
