Show Boys to Prepare For Soap Derby The annual Soap Box Derby will be held in Provo July 14, announces Bud Schardine, chairman of the Springville boys who plan to enter the races again this year. According to Mr. Schardine, Springville boys will play an active part in the derby with approximately approxi-mately 25 boys expected to participate. partici-pate. It is hoped that this number can be raised to 35. If enough interest in-terest can be created, it might be possible to bring the derby back to Springville the next year or so. It is hoped that some feasible sight can be procurred to hold the races and also use it for sleigh riding during the winter, chairman Schardine reported. All boys interested in participating partici-pating in the derby are asked to begin work on their cars. New rule books are available from the local sponsor, the Jaycees, or Bud Schardine. Prizes this year will be bigger and better than last year with the opportunity for the winner win-ner to compete for the $15,000 in scholarship awards and the expense ex-pense free trip to Akron, Ohio. |
