Show Foera! Services Keid at Mapleton For Vern E. Thorn Funeral services for Vern E. Thorn, 67, who died Wednesday of last week at the Utah Valley hospital of complications following follow-ing a heart operation, were held Saturday in the Mapleton ward chapel. Bishop Stewart Whiting presided. Military rites were conducted by the Springville Post American Legion Le-gion at the Evergreen cemetery, where burial was held, under direction di-rection of Claudin Funeral Home.. Mr. Thorn was born Oct. '11, 1888, in Springville, a son of Eras-tus Eras-tus G. and A lice Alzada Thorn. He married Bessie Whiting November 24, 1926. Their marriage was solemnized sol-emnized November 25, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Mr. Thorn operated the Thorn Transfer Company with his father, in Springville for many years, later moving to Mapleton. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Americarl Legion Post in Springville. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Vern Erwin, Eugene W., and Raymond Thorn, all of Mapleton; two daughters, Valene Thorn, Mapleton; Ma-pleton; Mrs. Kenneth (JoAnne) Marchant, Salt Lake, 1 grandson. i |
