Show First Security Corporation embarks on largest change of signage in this region The largest corporate signage conversion project ever undertaken under-taken in the Intermountain region will be initiated by First Security Corporation, the Salt Lake City-headquartered City-headquartered financial services organization. Spencer F. Eccles, the corporation's corpora-tion's chairman and chief executive execu-tive officer, announced Tuesday that beginning later this month, installation in-stallation of contemporary new signage will commence for First Security's 164 banking offices in Utah, Idaho and Southwestern Wyoming. "The majority of these offices will be converted by the end of January," the banking executive noted. "We plan to re-sign the remainder re-mainder of our banks during 1988." The firm has completed graphic design programs for many leading commercial com-mercial firms, such as Atlantic Richfield, Standard Oil of Ohio, Pacific Power and Light and Sinai Hospital. The signage program is an integral integ-ral part of First Security's new overall graphics system, according to Mr. Eccles. "During the later part of 1984 and early 1985, we conducted con-ducted a detailed analysis of our market, studied competitive signage sig-nage and graphics and conducted extensive consumer research leading lead-ing to the development of a striking, strik-ing, contemporary new First Security graphics system." The banking executive said im- plementation or interim? graphics on stationery, brochures? credit cards, business cards, and advertising began in 1986. "The new signage embodies the same powerful graphic and color statement state-ment presently in use and will be the most visible part of our graphics system," he said. "Installing contemporary, attractive and consistent signage," said Mr. Eccles, "is one of the most positive statements First Security can make regarding its commitment to provide progressive, progres-sive, customer-oriented financial services. Our decision to place a substantial investment in new signage sig-nage also makes an "unmistakable declaration regarding our stability and our optimistic view for the Intermountain In-termountain region and the growth potential of our organization. "We have made major improvements improve-ments in our organization over the past four years," noted Mr. Eccles. Ec-cles. We've become a new First Security, more customer oriented and market-driven. Mr. Eccles said that "many of our present branch signs reflect the graphic style of the time period when the branch was constructed. While the majority of the signs at those locations use the same general gener-al color scheme, they are in several different shapes and sizes, t shapes and sizes. "Because we have more branch offices than any bank in our market, mar-ket, and because convenience of location is so important, we want everyone to be able to readily identify iden-tify each of our 164 offices as belonging be-longing to the same family." First Security said the initial conversion will concentrate on urban areas in Utah and Idaho where First Security banks are located lo-cated Wasatch Front cities, Boise and other major Idaho cities. Later on, First Security banks in rural areas will be converted to the new signs. "By mid-1988, all of our offices should be completely resigned," re-signed," said Mr. Eccles. Mr. Eccles stated that First Security has completed the process pro-cess of selecting a contractor for the project.
