| Show A i THE BROOM HOTEL CLOSED j Foreclosure of an 88000 lUortgaKe Shut Down Offdcn Leading i Hostelry I The Broom Hotel at Ogden was closed I by Marshal Perkins yesterday at the instance in-stance of the Utah National Bank which had sworn out a writ of attachment on all the personal property in tho building Marshal Perkins closed the hotel and the business has stopped until some settlement settle-ment can be made As near as can be learned M H Beardsley the lessee of the Broom Hotel gave J C Armstrong a mortgage on all the furniture and fixtures fix-tures of the hotel in consideration of advancing ad-vancing 8000 to him This mortgage has just expired and has been foreclosed and the furniture and by Armstrong personal per-sonal property levied upon is covered by this mortgage I is said that the claim of the Utah National Bank is in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of O but the legality of the attachment at-tachment under the circumstances is questioned and will doubtless have to be settled in the courts The closing of the hotel is a hard blow I to Mr Beardsley and will also be felt to a great extent by the people of Ogden I I it is possible the matter should be adjusted I ad-justed to the satisfaction of all parties interested in-terested and the hotel reopened as soon as possible The prevailing hard times have so seriously effected business that the hotel ba not been paying a well as was expected and hence the foreclosure and attachment was made |
