Show By SARA WILSON Welcome back once again to the activity and excitement of a new school year. The student body offices for 1987 would like to wish all wildcats the best of luck, and encourage students to be a part of Woods Cross, 1986-87. STUDENT OF THE WEEK Through out the upcoming year, the student body officers would like to help give recognition to the many talented and unique students that attend Woods Cross. As a result, re-sult, the officers will be sponsoring the Student of the Week Award. Wildcats will be chosen within the school and honored for outstanding outstand-ing achievement in academics, athletics, the arts, and music or just for adding something special to Woods Cross. The first winner of the Student of the Week Award is senior Matt Roat for achieving excellence in track. Last spring at the state track meet, Matt took first in the mile and second place in the two mile event, but this was just the start. On June 1 Matt competed against college students in the Utah Olympics and came out with the gold medal in the one mile event. In July, Matt was invited to the national Junior Olympics that were held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He again took first in the mile but also came out first in the 5000 meter event. On July 24 Matt was selected to run the downhill mile with world class runners through Salt Lake City but was unable un-able to attend because of an invitational invita-tional national meet in Nebraska. In Nebraska Matt took second place leaving him the second fastest fas-test runner in the one mile event, throughout the United States. Congratulations Matt! We wish you continued success and are proud to have such tremendous talent ta-lent here at Woods Cross. THE OFFICERS Woods Cross is consistantly number one due to tremendous Wildcat support. Along with student stu-dent support. Woods Cross has grown to be great through contributions contri-butions made by people behind the scenes, the student body officers. The Woods Cross studentbody president for the year to come is Shawn Frasier. Shawn is a captain on the football team and also ex-cells ex-cells in the classroom. He is the single most unique and creative president that has ever graced Woods Cross, or the World. With his individuality Shawn is sure to make this year original, exciting and the greatest ever. Richard Egan is the academic vice president for 1987. Rich is well accomplished in academics, as well as being an outstanding athlete in both soccer and football. He is sincere, responsible and dedicated de-dicated towards keeping Woods Cross on top. The activities vice president is Trent Dransfield. Trent is a talented musician and plays in both the jazz band and the marching band. Trent also plays soccer and hopes to contribute to another state victory. Trent is extremely enthusiastic and will help brighten the school year to come. Talana Jorgenson is the secretary secret-ary for the 1987 school year. Talana Tala-na is an outstanding singer and will be involved in Madrigals throughout through-out the year. She is determined to make Woods Cross successful in '87. The student body artist is Christopher Christ-opher Thornock. Chris is one of the most talented young artists in the state, and is always working towards perfection. Besides art, Chris participates in track, and drama where he has received statewide state-wide recognition. Chris is a hard worker and will keep Woods Cross going full force throughout 1987. Wendy Lynn Argyle is the student stu-dent body historian for the upcoming upcom-ing year. Wendy Lynn has participated partici-pated in the Woods Cross Flag Line and Rifle Corps for the past three years, which shows real dedication. de-dication. Besides her willingness to work, Wendy Lynn is extremely friendly and will help unite the school in '87. The studentbody photographer for 1987 is Jill Smith. Besides being an officer, Jill is also a regional representative rep-resentative for Davis County. Jill has been involved in swimming as well as DEC A and the pep club. Jill is energetic and enthusiastic and will work hard towards making 1987 a tremendous year at Woods Cross. Sara Wilson is the 1987 student-body student-body publicity manager. Sara is a member of the Woods Cross swim team and holds the school record in the 50 yard freestyle. She hopes to add some style and excitement to another successful year here at Woods Cross.
