Show Tenth anniversary St. George Marathon drawing local runners Oct. 4 marks the tenth anniversary anniver-sary of the St. George Marathon, to be held in St. George. This year the number of runners will average between be-tween 1400 and 2,000. Along with the 10 year celebration the committee commit-tee is trying to locate any runner that has competed in all 10 of the races. These enduring people will gain special recognition for their efforts and be admitted to the new "10 Year Club." Each year hereafter hereaf-ter new runners will be added to the 10 year list. This year the Marathon will begin be-gin near the base of the majestic Pine Valley Mountains and descends de-scends to the St. George City Park. There are 25 age group divisions that make up this TAC Certified and Sanctioned race course. Course records include Paul Cummings with a 2: IS: IS and Jolene Fisher with a 2:43:27. Three women Masters Runners ran under three hours in 198S, including two in the top ten in the nation. Women may also use this race to qualify for the 1988 Olympic Trials Marathon by breaking a 2:49:49 time. Preregistration is required in order to participate in the marathon.
