Show Donations asked for vans ram to collect $25,000 for two new mini vans for the "Meals on Wheels" program for the elderly. Every year, the Council on Aging Ag-ing sponsors a Mini Conference to update senior citizens on public affairs concerning them. This year, the conference will address legal problems facing the elderly. The conference is set for Nov. 6 at the Golden Years Center in Bountiful. Registration will be the morning of the conference. All senior citizens in Davis County are invited to attend. There is no cost. Mrs. Johnson also reported that the Inspector General for Health and Human Services will be conducting con-ducting an audit of the Davis County Coun-ty Council on Aging. "The Inspector General is trying to find out if we are meeting the requirements of the law and he wants to see if our agency is filling a need in the community," Mrs. Johnson said. At the regular meeting, the board also disclosed a tentative schedule for the "Meet Your Candidate Night" for the elderly. On Oct. 2, at the Heritage Senior Citizens Center in Clearfield, the county candidates will meet with the elderly. Oct. 9 at the same place the state and federal candidates will meet. On Oct. 16, the county candidates candi-dates will meet at the Golden Years Center. And on Oct. 23, the state and federal candidates will have discussions at the Golden Years Center. By PAULA HUFF FARMINGTON The role of the newly-organized Davis County Aging Services Inc. was discussed at the regular Council on Aging meeting Tuesday. As background for the new nonprofit non-profit organization, Alice Johnson, director of the Council on Aging, said a Facilities Planning Committee Commit-tee was organized several years ago to evaluate Davis County aging facilities, to determine if they are adequate and where new facilities need be built. "In the process of doing this work, this committee decided a non-profit organization that was tax exempt was needed to accept donations," Mrs. Johnson, who is a member of the new organization and a member of the Facilities Planning Committee, said. The Facilities Planning Committee Commit-tee proceeded to file for non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service. In about seven months the status was granted and the Facilities Facili-ties Planning Committee turned itself it-self into the Davis County Aging Services Inc. In the Tuesday meeting, the board decided the Facilities Planning Plan-ning Committee had essentually been dissolved and it motioned to organize a new committee.
