Show society I. Erickson honored Isabella Erickson has been honored hon-ored at a number of festivities celebrating her 80th birthday. She was born in Anaconda, Mont, in 1906. Her father and grandfather were early day contractors con-tractors whose company built a large amount of the road bed for the Milwaukee Railroad as it entered Montana. She was educated in Montana schools and earned her degree in education from Western Montana College at Dillon. She taught school many years before and after her marriage. She was married to William J. Erickson in 1929. They had two sons, William and Richard Erickson. Erick-son. She is a Gold Star Mother having hav-ing lost her youngest son in the Koren Conflict. In 1956 she was chosen "Anaconda "Ana-conda Mother of the Year." This honor, was bestowed because of her service to the community. She and Mr. Erickson took into their home at different intervals 16 neg lected and under privileged children chil-dren whom they cared for. When Butte Stake was organized orga-nized in Montana by the LDS Church she was called as stake literature li-terature leader and held that position posi-tion for 16 years. She was also Singing Mothers director in the ward for many years. Upon being widowed she moved to be with her family in Bountiful. She enrolled in the Continuing Education program of B YU. She is well known private tutor who through her expertise and patience has taught many children as well as adults to read and thus enrich their lives. She has held offices in Anaconda Women's Club, the Garden Club and the Elk Ladies Club of Salt Lake City. She maintains her own home in Woods Cross and has a wide circle of friends both young and old. She enjoys living near her son and his wife and is proud of her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. |
