Show Like Great-Grandfather, Like Great-Grandson f- 'v? -3 .u r To demonstrate the toughness of the unique illuminated "light bar" in the front of the new 1986 Mercury Sable, Edsel B. Ford II, Lincoln-Mercury Division general marketing manager man-ager (top), recreates a historic photo of his great-grandfather, Henry Ford. In the famous 1940 photograph, Henry Ford (bottom) (bot-tom) is shown swinging an ax at the rear trunk lid of an experimental experi-mental car to demonstrate the toughness of plastic automotive parts. Decades later, Sable passes the same test by using a polycarbonate plastic, the same material found in jet fighter canopies. I |
