Show Farmington Historical Board By GARY R. BLODGETT FARMINGTON Creation of a Farmington Historical Centennial Cen-tennial Board and committees was announced by Mayor Robert Arbuckle at a recent meeting of the Farmington City Council. The historical centennial board and related committees will be under the direction of Councilwoman Pat Achter. She said the board and related committees will strive to capture and preserve the early history of Farmington and to prepare for the city's 100th birthday celebration in 1992. Farmington officially became an incorporated city in the Utah Territory on Nov. 21, 1892. Mayor Arbuckle said he and the council would like to appoint individuals to the centennial board who are sincerely interested in the fact-finding and preservation of the community's pioneer history. City residents who would like to serve on this board should contact Councilwoman Achter, 451-5081, for further informa- - tion. Also, anyone with historical artifacts, stories and informa-( informa-( tion about the early history of Farmington is urged to contact the -councilwoman.1 ' :' "This is a vitally important task and the success depends alot on those who volunteer their service to bring things together for historical preservation," said the councilwoman. |
