Show Local Parking Problem Eased Seventeen overtime parking tickets have been issued during the past two w.eeks. according to figures released Tuesday by Lt. Charles J. Larson of the local lo-cal police department. This number indicates a sharp reduction re-duction in overtime violations since the campaign to iy?t local employer-employe automobiles off the streets and into the community com-munity parking areas began six weeks ago. Campaign a Success "Without any question of a doubt," Lt. Larson stated, "daytime "day-time parking space on the streets of Sugar House has greatly increased." In a spot survey made by Lt. Larson, in company with a downtown newspaperman, the effects of the recent campaign were shown. Three-fourths of the cars parked in Sugar House were parked in the parking lots. By actual count. Lt. Larson determined that there is space available on the streets for some 288 vehicles. The area checked: check-ed: 10th to 12th East an 21st South; Hollywood Ave. to RR tracks on lith East.) This area coupled with the parking space in the community parking areas gives Sugar House "more than enough room" to handle all the cars that come to the community commu-nity for business and pleasure. Violators Sfill Tnsrged The survey indicated strongly strong-ly that tjie parking areas are being used by local business people and that the street parking park-ing facilities are being left for the shoppers. Lt. Larson commended com-mended the business people for their cooperation. He stated that there were still some violators, vio-lators, but they were being tagged. |
