Show Society DOING THE TOWN By Elaine A. Cannon Isn't it wonderful fun getting ready for Christmas? The carols giving us a warm, spiritual feeling and Santa Claus' interviews with Southeastern small fry coming over the loudspeaker from the plaza making us feel very merry indeed. And then there are the shoppers . . . we see our friends and! call a cheery greeting- In our hurry we bump into a stranger but he only responds with an understanding smile. It is fun preparing for Yuletide doings, isn't it? Marie Waldron thinks it's really exciting this year Christmas Christ-mas means an apartment full of smart new furniture. We saw her in one of our super furniture marts selecting a handsome piece. She was looking pert in a saucy brown hat with ostrich plumes for decoration. , Mrs. Horace Sorensen and son Maynard spent Saturday afternoon after-noon together choosing a very special gift for the Dad of the family. Mrs. Franklin J. Murdock chose royal blue and black as the color combination for the smart shopping costume she was wearing wear-ing as she hurried along 11th East to. her car. She was laden with interesting looking packages, too. ' Wendell and Marion Ashton stopped to pick up a few trinkets for the .three Moppets at home. They said they were trying to get Christmas shopping over early. " Speaking of newcomers to the younger younger set out this away . . . Bud and Imogene Woodbury have a new little girl in the family. She came to town Monday evening. ; Lot's of little pre-Christmas packages arriving in time for the Santa celebration. A fourth boy for the Kenneth Weavers of 2178 Kensington Ave.- Paul. Dick and Bob are waiting anxiously for a close-up peek at their tiny brother.. Mrs. Weaver is the former Bertha Musser. Frank and "Cutie" Purton Hoagland have been telling friends about their 6 pound, 11 ounce, son and heir that is only a week old. The Hoaglands live at 1721 So. 15th East. Dr- and Mrs. Bud Jackson opened the Christmas season of- j ficially Saturday evening by en- I tertaining a few friends at their home, 132S Westminster Ave. Saturday evening the tree was beautifully decorated and Christmas spirit was high. The Fred Schwendimans the Lyle ; Wards, Scott and Agnes Claw-son, Claw-son, the Dick Reese duo and Hy ! Smith and his wife were among those present. Jimmy Jardine turned one year old this week and his par-1 ents, the Stuart Jardines, had a I party for him. A big white cake with frosted animal crackers marching around the top was placed on a musical platter. There were Santa Claus ginger bread cookies, hats and balloons for little Ann Cannon, Brent Ward. Jeffrey and Scott Anderson Ander-son and Michall Weilenmann. |
