Show Beware Of "Minor" Eye Troubles Do you have trouble adjusting ad-justing your eyes to darkened rooms? Do you see rainbow-colored rainbow-colored rings around lights? Have problems with seeing things to the side of you? These could be signs of a serious eye problem. Don't ignore them. Two million people have glaucoma and half of them don't know it. Glaucoma is caused by too much pressure in the eye. It can be detected by a quick, simple test called tonometry. Since there are often no early symptoms, regular checkups are important. According to the National Nation-al Society to Prevent Blindness, Blind-ness, if you are over 35 years of age, you should have your eyes checked at least once every two years more often if there's a family history of glaucoma. While any sight that has been destroyed cannot be restored, medical treatment can usually stop the disease from progressing. |
