Show Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 RELIEF SOCIETY MEETS A group of twelve ladies met at the home of Mrs. Wendell Johnson, who is president of the Reilef Society, and had their pressure cookers tested by Miss Mary Lois Reichert, County Demonstration De-monstration Agent, Wednesday', July 19. Tex Ross and two sons, Gilbert and Lucky, spent last weekend with Mr. Ross' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Ross. They had come to move the rest of their furniture furni-ture to Grand Junction, where they are making their home. Mr. and Mrs. Max Gardner of Salt Lake City and Shirley Marti were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse one day last week. Mr. arid Mrs. Melvin Bingham and family of Neola and Mrs. Josephine Jo-sephine Taylor of Vernal were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham Sunday, July 15, Mrs. Taylor is a sister of Mrs. Charles Bingham. Earl Winn left Sunday, July 15, for Treasure Island, Qalif.. on business for the government. He expected to be gone ten days. Mr. Winn and his wife made a trip to Ogden Saturday, July 14, to visit some of her relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Elmont Lemon and family of Magna spent last weekend at the home of Mr. Lemon's Lem-on's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire. Lyle Squire went home with them to spend a week. - Joyce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bartlett of Tridell, and Sherlene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Haws, of Vemal have been recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Spncer Squire. The girls are neices of Mrs. Squire. .-, Brian C. O'Neil of Vernal was a business caller at Alterra and vicinity' July 14.' Mr. and Mrs. Squtfe Mangum and son, Val Dean, returned during dur-ing the week from their trip to Mississippi. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Johnson and family spent last weekend in Ogd'en making plans for their home there. They will move some time in August. While in Salt Lake City they attended a Johnson John-son family reunion Sunday. On Monday evening the Johnsons and family were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Weeks in Vernal. Mrs. John H. Cook spent several sev-eral days in the hospital last week receiving medical care. Her son and daughter-in-law, Mr." and Mrs. Howard Williams of Maeser visited her there Sunday evening. On the recent Scout trip Donald Don-ald Heed, son of Mrs. Veneta Heed, was made an Eagle Scout. Mrs. Howard Todd and two small sons of Bluebell were visitors visi-tors at the Wendell Johnson home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bracken and sons of Salt Lake City were here several days enjoying a short vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Percival of Ioka and Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken. El Roy Norton of Pleasant Grove has been staying at the home of his sister, Mrs Von Haslem, while he has employment in Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Campbell of Maeser, who are missionaries for the Indians, are assisting with he group holding gatherings in the old Seminary building at Alterra. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Todd spent last weekend visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Mohlman and family at Bountiful. Mrs. David Lundberg accompanied accomp-anied her sister, Mrs. Ernest Knowles, of Neola to Ogden last weekend to visit two of their sisters before they returned to their home in Reno. Quite a number from Ballard attended' the funeral services of Mrs. Alice Hancock at Roosevelt Tuesday, July 17. Mrs. Hancock was an aunt of the John Pages. Mrs. Don Killian was appointed by county officals of Vernal to replace Mrs. Elton Kettle as registrar re-gistrar for the Ballard and Bennett Ben-nett precincts. Mrs. Kettle had held this position for several years. Citizens, make sure your name is on the register. Junior Jenkins made a trip to Salt Lake City where he received medical care. He returned in a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Wndell Johnson entertained Mr. and Mrs. Morris cook and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nash and family at an outdoor out-door supper Saturday evening. WARD CONFERENCE SET Ballard Ward conference will be held July 29. All members of the Ward are urged to be there. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Tood of Randlett, Mrs. Howard Todd and two sons of Bluebell, Mrs. Karl Shisler and two daughters and Mrs. George Bracken went to Heber to attend a Todd reunion Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. George Winn of Lancaster, Calif., were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Winn last week. They' visited Mr. Winn's Mother, Mrs. Effie Wiin, at he Earl Gardner home. Mrs. Joanna Watkins of Los Angeles is visiting with her sister, Mrs. George Bracken. She was the wife of the late Frank Wat-kins, Wat-kins, who were pioneers of Roosevelt. Roose-velt. Mr. Watkins was a former school teacher of Roosevelt, Bal-i lard and Alterra. |
