Show I Reservation News f f About The 8 By June Cook MIX BLOODS HOLD COUNCIL A special general membership meeting was held last Saturday at the Ft. Duchesne Community building build-ing for the mixed blood group of Affiliated Utes. Approximately 75 eligible members were present The purpose of the meeting was to adopt the budget for the fiscal year 1956-57, to ratify the pro- I posed program and hire a legal I advisor. The group approved the rehiring of John S. Boyden for another year as did the full blood group for tribal Attorney. The group also approved the adoption to be made on the Constitution and' By-laws to send notices of meetings 15 days prior to any meeting held instead of 30 day' notices. Under Public Law 671, plans were to be prepared as to the distribution of assets to individuals indi-viduals and divide assets and cash assets for the mixed bloods, to be approved by Phoenix Area Office and the Secretary of Interior in Washington, D. C. and approval of the proposed program will allow the mixed bloods to participate in the $4500.00 per capita cash payment pay-ment and other phases such as land, timber, etc. to be set up as shares. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bailey from Mass. are visiting with Gary's mother, Mrs. Lola Bailey and other relatives this week. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Boye Clark from Tuscon, Arizona who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wardle of Ouray left for their home Wed. Mrs. Ray1 Wardle and two children chil-dren returned' with them for a two week visit. R-N Mr. and Mrs. Gene Walkup from Whiterocks accompanied James R. Summers, Tribal Police from Randlett, on a vacatWn trip to Tennessee for a family convention. con-vention. R-N Wilson Reed from Hiawatha, Kansas is visiting friends and relatives on the reservation this week. R-N Mr. andMrs. Gilbert Mojado and Gilberts father, Sefie Majado and nephew Clarence from Pala, Calif, are visiting here with Mrs. Mojado's mother, Lulu Murdock. Last week they motored to Lander, Wyo. with Mr. and Mrs. Julian Reed to attend the Sun Dance ceremony. They will leave for their home Tuesday and Brenda Murdock Mur-dock will return with them to spend the winter and attend school there. |
