Show lioka Boy Gains j Hi i wan is Calf At County Fair John Percival, of Ioka, is the proud winner of the Roosevelt Kiwanis Club award at the Duchesne Du-chesne County Fair for the first time this year- a purebred Jersey Jer-sey heifer. John, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Percival, won this coveted award for having ( been chosen the outstanding boy in Duchesne county 4-H Club work during the past year. This is his third-year project in 4-H. His projects have been in beef cattle, poultry and swine. Keith Lemon, of Ioka, is the leader o1 the 4-H club in Ioka of which John is a member. The registered Jersey heifer was raised by Paul Foote, of Ioka, from whom the Kiwanis Club purchased the animal. Wilford Robinson, of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Kiwanis Club, presented the award to John. Also representing repre-senting the Kiwanis club at the presentation was J. D. Walker, president of the Roosevelt club. John says this will be a beginning be-ginning of a milcji cow herd for him. He estimated the value of the registered Jersey heifer to be $300.00. Kiwanis club officials have declared de-clared t'ney plcn to make a similar sim-ilar award yearly to the boy who has made an outstandinw record in 4-H Club achievement within the county.. |
