Show 4-H Club Work BUSY STITCHERS The 14-16 year-old girls met at the home of their leader, Mrs. Hazel Reay, on Thursday, June 10, from 2-4 p.m., which will be the time of the regular weekly meetings. The girls elected officers as follows: president, pres-ident, Mary Reay; vice-president, Gwendolyn Chapman; reporter, re-porter, Carolyn Dastrup; song and yell leader, RaNae Stevenson. Steven-son. The name of their group is to be "The Busy Stitchers," and their project will be clothing. cloth-ing. Little Miss Mayla Mitchell entertained her playmates at a birthday, party last Saturday morning. Katherine Hartman celebrated her birthday on June 9th, with a party, attended by about 12 of her friends and relatives. The group went horse-back riding rid-ing and then to the theatre. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dye and family and Carl Young, of Salt Lake, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Young. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Thacker and family, recently of Bar-stow, Bar-stow, Calif., Alton Thacker and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hussey, of Salt Lake, have spent the past week visiting their relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Thacker are returning to Hollister this weekend, where he has been transferred in his work. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hartman and family were in Vernal last Tuesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Kolb and family were in Salt Lake last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Volney Boswell and family went to Salt Lake last Sunday to be present at the 80th birthday of Mr. Bos-well's Bos-well's mother, Mrs. Rosella Bowles. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fry, of Richfield, brought the two daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Myron My-ron Madsen, of Monroe, to stay with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Case, and family fam-ily for two' weeks. Mayla Mitchell spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs.. Hardy Perkins Per-kins and their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Young served family dinner to the following guests last Sunday: Sun-day: Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Day and family, and Carl Young, all of Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Nielsen and family, of Bridgeland, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Young and son, Perry, of Mt. Emmons. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Al-ma Smith, of Bridgeland, and their two grandsons called later in the day. Among the interested spectators specta-tors at the Dedication of the Duchesne County Courthouse last Monday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stevenson. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Evans, and Mrs. Max Hartman and Mrs. Chester Hartman. VARIETY CLUB MEETS The Mt. Emmons Variety club held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Sonny Denver on Thursday, June 10. There were seven members present. Friends surprised Mrs. Jewell Kolb on June 4th, on the occasion oc-casion of her birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Baxter, Mr. and Mrs. Ty Kolb, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lambert and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Reese. Mrs. Max Hartman went to' Logan, Monday, with her husband, hus-band, who will be attending school at the college for some time. She returned home Tuesday. Tues-day. Miss Afton Smithson was among the students graduating from the BYU last week. She received her Batchelor's Degree De-gree in the field of Arts and Sciences. She will teach school in the Provo area next year. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hartman, of Hiawatha, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hartman. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Mitchell and Evan Hansen went to Salt Lake last Wednesday and Thursday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Neal Kitte- I ridge, the former Ina Mae Sadler, Sad-ler, have sent woTd of the birth of a baby daughter. They have two sons, also, and reside in Tacoma, Washington. Miss Ann Boswell and Larry Mitchell participated in the LDS dance festival, part of June conference, in Salt Lake last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Hansen and daughter, of Washington, D. C, were overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Wal-do Hansen, Tuesday night. Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hartman were Mrs. Hartman's niece and her family, of Provo. Speakers at Sacrament meeting meet-ing last Sunday were WilfoTd Thompson and Mrs. Bernard Winkler. Pauline and Shanna Lee Winkler offered a vocal duet. |
