Show Duchesne Ward Plans $5-Plate Dinner For Tonight The Duchesne ward "Welfare committee had plans completed this morning for the benefit banquet that will be held in the ward recreation hall, tonight to-night at 8:30 p.m. Approximately Approximate-ly 200 guests were expected to respond to the $5.00 per plate dinner. Porter L. Merrell, bishop, states that the ward hopes to raise the $600 balance owing on the ward welfare farm from sale of tickets to the banquet. If moTe than the balance is realized from ticket sales and donations, this money would be used to pay for fencing material purchased for use on the farm this spring. Various organizations of the ward are in charge of the banquet ban-quet preparations. The Relief Society is preparing the dinner and service; the program is being arranged by the Mutual Improvement Ass'n. headed by Var Rosenbaum - and Mrs. Del-phia Del-phia Moon; William C. Foy is finance chairman in charge of ticket sales at $5 per plate. Red Stop Signs To Replace Yellow On All State Highways; Reflector Type Signs To Be 30 Inches From this day on, Utah's driving public will be seeing a lost more red; for today, the Utah State Highway Commission, Commis-sion, after many months of re-rearch, re-rearch, discussion and study of traffic experiments across the nation, officially adopted the use of red stop signs as a state standard in place of the present yellow and black signs. The Commission based its decision de-cision on the fact that the color red is consistent with the wide use of red as a special warning warn-ing of danger and the near universal uni-versal use of the red light as a stop signal. This action means that from now on all stop signs construct ed for use on the state's highways high-ways wil be 30" fully reflec-torized reflec-torized signs with red backgrounds back-grounds and white lettering. Replacement of existing signs will be on a normal basis of placing the new signs in positions posi-tions where the others are worn out or have been damaged The only exception of this policy pol-icy at present is that the commission com-mission has instructed the Department De-partment of Traffic Engineering to place 25 of the new red standards stan-dards at various busy intersections intersec-tions and in areas where motorists motor-ists fail to' stop for stop signs. The first of these will probably be installed within the next two weeks. |
