Show school nans ROOSEVELT JUNIOR HIGH Class Takes Field Trip By Carol Ann Nielsen The ninth grade Science classes were taken on a field trip to Vernal, Ver-nal, Monday, January 17, under the supervision of the Science teacher, Don Crittenden. They were shown the processing of meat from the time it was killed to the aging room. They also al-so toured the curing room, drip room and lard rendering room. They previously watched the starting of a beef being cleaned. clean-ed. They were also shown the smoking process of boloney and hot dogs, and the cutting up of an animal. Our Classmate, Velma Fenn By Fern Young . Velma Fenn, ninth grade student stu-dent of Roosevelt Jr. High, was stricken with polio in the fall of 1953. She has struggled bravely to regain the use of her left arm. On clean-up day last spring she scrubbed as hard as anyone. No one has ever heard her complain. She has done a lot of fine work in home economics, and sews quite well in spite of her handicap. We are in hopes that this brave girl will regain the use of her arm, which she continually exercises exer-cises to strengthen. Polio Fund Supported The March of Dimes was observed ob-served at RJHS the past two weeks. Cards for contributions were passed to students- by home room teachers. We saw an excellent show, "We Shall Not Want," on the theme of giving to aid polio sufferers. suf-ferers. ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY The assembly Friday, given by Mrs. Johnson's fourth grade was both interesting and amusing. It was a play of a small boy who did not care for work. When he was taken to a land where nobody no-body worked, he discovered just how unpleasant such a place could be.
