Show lag Basketball Test Fer Union, Ohitola On hh. 9 ' The first half of the currents Uintah Basin High School basketball basket-ball race will come to an end Friday night when Duchesne travels trav-els to Uintah, and Altamont goes to Tabiona, while the leading Cougars Cou-gars from Union make a jaunt to .Craig, Colorado, for a non-conference contest. A mid-week slate of games next Wednesday could pretty much settle the first place proposition When the Cougars travel to Vernal Ver-nal in the second big meeting of these two arch-rivals. Union stopped stop-ped the 1954 Basin champs with a convincing 52-40 win back on Jan. 7th, and if they can eke out another victory, they will just about have their ticket purchased for the Class "B" tournament at Provo on March 18 to 21. However, How-ever, if the Utes take the contest, they will be tied with the Cougars, Cou-gars, that is if they get over Duchesne Du-chesne tomorrow night, and they should have no trouble on their own floor. The second place team in the Basin tussle will enter a play-off with the second team from Emery-Grand-San Juan division. Date for this play-off will be March 9 the site to be announced when it is determined who'll be playing. The winner will be the third team from Region Five to go to state. While Uintah is entertaining Union next Wednesday, Duchesne will be traveling to Tabiona for another battle. The Eagles tripped the Tigers at Duchesne on the ! opening night, so little Tabby will I be out to win one. i |
