Show i Roosevelt To Get eiv Hood-WeScoriie Signs f The go ahead signal was given Tuesday by the board of directors of the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce for two large welcome signs to be erected by the Norton Signs Co. of Roosevelt and to be located on Highway 40 on either side of the city. Participating in the rental of the signs will be the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Lions and the American Legion Post No. 64. Each will have the club's insignia and date of meeting meet-ing affixed to the sign. A report from the tourist promotion pro-motion committee indicates the brochure that is to be printed will soon be in the hands of the printers and should be ready for circulation sometime in March. According to Howard Harrison, president who presided over the meeting, the directors also approved ap-proved sponsoring the second annual an-nual dinner honoring Ute Indian basketball teams1 and members of the tribe and agency officials. This will be held sometime in February. Legislative Committee Appointed to the .legislative committee for the Chamber were Kenneth Aycock, chairman, Law-rell Law-rell Jensen and Floyd Labrum. (Continued from page one) as the "Right to Work" bill, was approved by the directors, and the committee was authorized to write Sen. B. H. Stringham, Rep. Wm. N. Brotherson and Rep. Clair Hopkins, urging them to vote in favor of the bill when it comes to a vote in the legislative houses. It was pointed out by Mr. Harrison Harris-on that the local Chamber of Commerce Com-merce was not opposed to Unions and felt they are very necessary, but they are convinced a man should have a right to work without with-out being forced to join a union. In the near future a local Aqu-lante Aqu-lante committee will begin functioning func-tioning in this area urging people to join the Grass Roots organization organiza-tion that is set up to work for early passage of the Upper Colorado Colo-rado River bill now posing before Congress. Bennie Schmiett is chairman of the committee. The roads committee of the Chamber will meet in a joint Highway 40 meeting in Salt Lake City on Feb. 14. Merlin Sullivan is chairman of this committee. |
