Show lilt CtwnchJ Gayle Case Dairy Industry Object Of Visit Chester Hartman and son, Bruce, returned Saturday night from a two-week's trip through some of the country's top dairy sections. Their 4,000-mile trip took them into Illinois. Wisconsin Wiscon-sin and Iowa, where they visited vis-ited the leading milking short-herds short-herds of those states. They attended a sale at the LeFraise Farms at Pontiac, Illinois, Illi-nois, where they purchased three heifers and a bull. They also visited the famous milking shorthorn farms of Arthur J. Bertsche and Sons and the Mar-quart Mar-quart Bros, farm of Pontiac, where they bought four heifers and two bulls. The acquis. tion of this stock by Mr. Hartman and sons is being be-ing followed with a great deal of interest by dairymen of the Basin, Among those who plan to use some of this new blood for the betterment of their milking shorthorn herds are Joseph Mal-ner, Mal-ner, of Neola; Albert Nielson, Roosevelt; and Harold Dudley, Avalon. The Altamont Band Mothers served a chicken dinner, Monday Mon-day in the high school dining room to members of the Moon Lake Electric Association and their wives who attended the annual meeting and election. The cooperative stood the cost of the meal. The proceeds will be used for needed additional band suits. Mrs. Eliza J. Olsen and Mrs. Gordon Case spent the week-end in Salt Lake. Mrs. Olsen visited with a daughter, who is convalescing conva-lescing from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mrs. Case consulted an eye specialist. Lawrence Ward and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie J. Orr made a weekend- trip to Salt Lake. They returned re-turned Sunday evening, bringing bring-ing Mrs. Ward, who had been visiting relatives in Salt Lake and neighboring towns. Mr. and Mrs. Orr spent the time with their daughters, Mrs. Arthur Case and Mrs. Pete Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Ward completed 'arrangements for the sale of J their farm in Mt. Emmons. Two adult classes have been organized at the high school. Mrs. Eliza J. Olsen, home economics ec-onomics instructor, is teaching a weekly class in sewing to a group of women. For the men, a class in woodwork is being given by Mr. Gailey, the shop teacher. I George Mendenhall is in Salt ' Lake visiting with his wife. |
