Show Learn About Government . . . Senator Watkins Will Conduct Two Clinics Senator Arthur V. Watkins has announced that Duchesne and Roosevelt will be visited durinS a series of legislative clinics which he will conduct throughout Utah for a month beginning be-ginning Nov. 5. He has written to Porter L. Merrell, Duchesne county clerk, that he would like to conduct the clinic in Duchssne at 8 p. m. on November 12. The chapel and recreation room at the L.D.S. church has been reserved for this purpose during the afternoon after-noon of Nov. 12. The Senator will come to Roosevelt on the following day, and Mayor Homer Hom-er P. Edwards is making arrangements ar-rangements for the clinic to be held in Roosevelt. Following a custom he started start-ed in 1940, the year of his election elec-tion to the Senate, and has repeated re-peated annually, Watkins will appear at high schools, luncheon clubs, county court houses, and other locales to talk to and meet with citizens of the state. Mrs. Watkins will accompany him, as will his administrative assistant, Dick Cardell; his legislative leg-islative assistant, Roy James, and his field secretary, O. De-Ver'e De-Ver'e Wootton, of American Fork. Mrs. Margaret Pierson Day, member of his staff at Washington, D. C, will run an office at Newhouse hotel, Salt Lake City, during the time the Senator is in the state. In his letters to Mr. Merrell and Mayor Edwards requesting that some place be made available avail-able for the meeting, Watkins said: "As one of the elected representatives rep-resentatives of Utah, I intend to make myself available to' answer an-swer questions on my activities and to set the views of the people I represent. I will appreciate ap-preciate your cooperation in making this possible." |
