Show i School Board Airs Problems Duchesne County School District monthly board meeting was held in the Board of Education offices Thursday, March 3, with Theron Leavitt, president of the board, presiding. Board members B. A. Jacoby, Wm. R. Harris, Marion ' A. Harrison and Edwin L. Murphy were present, and Supt. Rowan C. Stutz and C. C. Mickelson, clerk, were also in attendance. Problems relative to the school building program received the attention at-tention of the board for the major part of the morning. Considered were the preliminary drawings for the Roosevelt Junior High School, a proposal for a foundation survey sur-vey of the site for the new addition addi-tion to the Roosevelt Junior High, a change of work order to extend the automatic heating control system sys-tem in the Altamont High School to the rooms in the present struc ture, a change order to include cabinet work in three rooms in the remodeled Altamont Elementary Elemen-tary School, and the plans for a sewage disposal field at Altamont. No Action On Busses In the presence of the dealers who submitted bids for 5 new school busses to be purchased for next year, these bids were opened and discussed. No decision was made as to the purchase of these busses. This item of business was tabled for the next meeting of the board. Approval was given by the board to the addition to programs of the Altamont High School, the Roosevelt Jr. High School and the Duchesne High School of the services ser-vices of a half-day librarian. It is also planned to add to the district staff for next year a guidance and student personnel director who will assist teachers and parents with the analysis of learning and behavior problems of high school students and help to develop programs pro-grams for the solution of these problems. The superintendent was authorized author-ized to seek suitable people for 1 these positions to nominate to the board for employment. Teacher Released A request for release from her contract from Mrs. Barbara Brewer, Brew-er, sixth grade teacher in the Roosevelt Elementary School, was approved. Glade Nelson, Upalco, was employed to fill this vacancy. Deloy Richens was approved by the board to replace Mr. Crozier who resigned as lunch worker in the Union High School. The April meeting of the Board of Education will be held Thursday, Thurs-day, April 7. |
