Show LeetonBennett Fern Houston Melting Snow Causes Flood From the flat pasture lands of Hayden and the Sun Dance grounds came a flood of melting snow and ice the last of the week that lasted for days. For 4 miles along the Bennett road and also the side roads running east and west the swift running water has washed holes and left rocks piled up with much damage being done. Saturday the water flooded the basement of the home of Lorraine Bolton, and the family was forced to leave. They went to Neola to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Harrison. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Labrum and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brisbane Bris-bane were visitors at the home of Winfred Long "on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Betts, of American Fork, spent the weekend week-end at the home of Clair Haslem. Tuesday the Relief Society held a quilting party at the church. The ladies quilted for Mrs. Frances Fran-ces Bowen. A lunch was served and Fern Houston demonstrated making a wagon wheel rug. Kennith Long accompanied Lyle Morrill to Springyille and Logan on a pleasure trip. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Horrocks visited vis-ited recently at Lapoint with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Horrocks. The Fifth Quorum of Elders are invited to attend the party given by them at Ballard Friday night at 7 p.m. The quorum consists of members from Whiterocks, Bennett Ben-nett and Ballard. Mrs. Keith Bowen entertained Sunday in honor of Mrs. Frances Bowen for her birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. She had a very nice family dinner and many of her friends sent gifts of remembrance for the occasion. Ray Parnell is home for a short visit. He will return to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he is employed. Mrs. W. H. Coltharp returned from Salt Lake City, Friday. Mrs. Otis Horrocks and Byron went to Salt Lake City Monday to visit her sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Jensen Jen-sen and Mrs. Ila Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Long attended at-tended the funeral service for Roy Taylor at Vernal, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Bolton have moved from Salt Lake City. He will have employment with the O. K. Rubber Welders at Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bowen spent several days in Salt Lake last week. Mrs. Frances Bowen took care of their children in their absence. ab-sence. Byron and Jay Bolton left Monday Mon-day for Montrose, Colo, to get Charley Bolton, who has spent two years on an LDS mission in the Western States. He has been released. ' |
