Show Theme, Personnel Chosen For Kurcil Helration CofirferesKe Altamont To Host Duchesne County Patrons On March 31, April First ' Theme of the Rural Education Conference scheduled for Thursday Thurs-day evening.March 31 and Friday, April 1 at Altamont is the "Role of the School in Rural Living." Supt. Rowan C. Stutz, chairman for the conference, Announced that schools will close Friday, April 1, and that busses will run for parents par-ents wishing to attend the conference. con-ference. Those needing transportation transporta-tion are asked to contact the principal nearest their locality for the schedule. All organizations are urged to send in their list of delegates to Mrs. Arietta Williams at Duchesne, so that special information can be mailed to them and identification badges can be made. The. nevt meeting of the planning plan-ning group will be held Friday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Altamont High School. The following have accepted responsibility re-sponsibility of group leaders in the various discussion groups at the conference: Clarence Wendel, supervisor of schools, Nebo School District; Ken Wright, Provo High School; Percy Burrep, Brigham Young University; Julia Kaine, Brigham Young University; Dean C. Christensen, University of Utah; Margaret Johnson, Intermediate Supervisor, Alpine School District; Gale Rose, Utah Education Association. Associ-ation. Office; Dr. Jeff Eastmond, U. S. A. C, Logan; Elmer Hart-vigsen, Hart-vigsen, assistant superintendent of Public Instruction; Stella Oakes, Provo School District. Those appointed as consultants in the various discussion groups are as follows: Wilson Sorenson, superintendant of vocational school, Provo; Dr. Vaughn Hall, State Department of Public Instruction; In-struction; Dr. Anthone Romney, Brigham Young University; Will-burn Will-burn Ball, Elaine Erickson and Winifred Hazen, all from the State Department of Public Instruction. Dr. Sam McLaughlin, head ' of the Department of Elementary Education of the University of Utah, will act as the conference summarizer. Eight conference topics to be discussed in respective departments depart-ments will consist of the Role of the School in Teaching Fundamental Fundamen-tal Skills, in Teaching Citizenship, in Physical and Mental Health; in Personality Developement, in Preparation for Family Life, in teaching Effective Use of Leasure Time, in Vocational Preparation, and in Character Building. The public is cordiall invited to attend the conference which is being led by outstanding educators of the state. |
