Show 11956 Weed Budget Same As For '55; $10,000 Asked For In their request for a $10,000.00 budget for 1956, the Duchesne County Noxious Weed Control Committee recommended dormant spraying for several of the hard-to-kill weeds in this county. In their report to the Duchesne County Commissioners, the committee com-mittee stated that through experimentation experi-mentation and work being carried on in this and other states and through limited experiments in this county the committee is convinced con-vinced that this practice would be near 100 per cent successful particularly in the control of willows wil-lows in this area. The report stated that equally a good kill is obtained on willows with dormant dorm-ant spraying with much less chemical used; therefore, the com-mitte com-mitte would . like to continue the spraying operations until' December Decem-ber in 1956 rather than stop at the end of the growing seaspnrf. Included in the additional budget bud-get fund requested for 1956 was an amount necessary for an educational ed-ucational program on the control of noxious weeds and for map making. This program would include in-clude holdings of meetings and personal visits to farms to stress the importance of the noxious weed control program with the leaders. A $8,500 budget for noxious weed eradication was allowed for 1956 by the Duchesne County Commissioners. This is the same amount of the 1955 budget for this department. |
