Show : SCHOOL OeilS ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY On Thursday, Jan. 12, Mrs. Buchanan's Bu-chanan's third grade went to the post office. We are studying about communication. A letter is one way of communicating. The class wrote' letters to friends and relatives. rela-tives. We' took them to the post office and mailed them. Mr. Taylor Tay-lor showed us around the post office. of-fice. He showed us how the letters let-ters go through the cancelling machine, ma-chine, Eva Jean Lewis -:-x-:- On Friday, Jan. 13, our Lucky Day, we had a food sale. Everyone brought something to sell. All the boys and girls acted as clerks. When it was over we counted the money and found that we had earned $52.33 after our expenses we're paid. It was a lucky sale on a lucky day, Friday, 13th. We plan to use the money for our bird club, our Dads' Day program and our Mothers' Tea. Eva Mae Milligan -:-x-:-. Mrs. Johnson's fourth grade is having a good time in art. They 7 are doing ' water color washes, which are very pretty. They have also made magazine mosaic pictures pic-tures made from old magazine pictures.. pic-tures.. The picture's vary from houses and scenes to pictures of people and animal's. Some of the pictures are very clever and attractive. -. A-. The kindergarten is busy with winter fun. They have a decoia-tive' decoia-tive' border of snowmen and snow activities which helps to compensate compen-sate for the lack of show outside. The children are very proud of their pictures. " After listening to a recording of "The Three' Bears,'" the kindergarten kinder-garten is reproducing the story. They have made the Three Bears' house, and " will soon finish making mak-ing Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have learned the songs and dialogue that tell the story. ' -:-x-:- The student council asked that the school' in an effort to improve im-prove behavior at the lunchroom, place posters, songs and poems in the lunchroom next Monday. A committee consisting of Allen Swenson, Peggy Wills and Linda Nelson will judge the entries and select posters for the lunchroom. Mr. and Mrs, Blaines' sixth grade has completed fine posters to be' submitted' for placement in the hmchroom. Each poster represents repre-sents the work of two or three students. All students in the class have composed fine limericks and drawn clever pictures stressing good behavior. Limericks which were not chosen for posters but which teach good lessons are as follows: A sickly boy scraped off his tray, And wasted his food every day: He whined all day long, Got his school work all wrong; The boy who wasted his food every day. Velrna Potter At lunchtime it's always the rule, To show we respect our fine school. So eat all your food. If you don't it is rude. So always obey this fine' rule. Carl Larson A girl whom nobody loves, Continually pushes and shoves. The people around her Would just love to drown her, Th?t mean girl whom nobody loves. Diane Winterton There once was a girl named Kate, Who made so much noise when she ate; Her friends all turned away, Until one fine day She didn't make so much noise when she ate. Connie Larsen There once was a girl named Kate Who ate everything on her plate; Never did she waste it, Before she could taste it; But ate everything on her plate. Dianne Curry One day Johnny said to some boys "Our lunchroom has far too much noise. "How about quieting down, "Instead of acting like a clown?" And they didn't make any more noise. Doyle Wilkins There once was a boy named Ray, He wasted his food every day. When they asked him to leave, He raid, "I believe', I will not waste my food every day.
