Show Two, Basin Legion Ball Players On All-Star Team Jimmy Sutteer, catcher om the Roosevelt American Legion baseball team and Charles (Smiley) Denver, pitcher on the championship Fort Duchesne team, will be members of the "Staters" All-Star team that will meet a picked team from Salt Lake metropolitan area in a special game Thursday (today) to be played at Derks Field at 8:15 p.m. This is the fifth year the all-star all-star game has been played and marks the rubber game each team has won two. The big town lads won the first two years, and the "Staters" won the 1952 and '53 contests. The two squads assembled yesterday at Derks Field, where each held a two-hour work-out that morning. Following the drills the kids were guests at a luncheson with President Ed die Leishman and Manager Charles Gassaway, of the Sal' Lake Bees as the featured speakers. They again worker' out Wednesday afternoon, anr" were guests at the Bee-Billingr game Wednesday night. Al' players will be introduced a' the Bee game. Jimmy is the son of Mr. anr Mrs. William Sutteer of Roos evelt, and Charles' parents ar' Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Toes) Den ver, of Fort Duchesne. |
