BACON, Newly-elected Newly-elected Roosevelt District Boy Scout Chairman, was recently released as president of the Uintah Basin Indian Mission. A report received recently from the Utah Department of Health reveals that the last sample of Roosevelt City's culinary cul-inary water analyzed by them was found to be pure and free from contamination. According to Mayor Paul Murphy samples of the city water are taken monthly from a tap in the City Building and mailed to the state department in Salt Lake. The last report was for July. At the last semi-monthly meeting of the mayor and council coun-cil considerable time was devoted de-voted to' discussing some of the major problems that were presented pre-sented the group. An observation observa-tion reveals that very few large trucks stop in Roosevelt, which might be because no designated trucking area has been announced. announ-ced. It is proposed by the city officials that a side street, probably prob-ably east of Main Street on Lagoon La-goon will be so designated. Trucking companies will be notified no-tified of the parking space provided pro-vided for their outfits. Information has come to the city officials that an Indian dormitory is being considered for the Roosevelt area, which would accomodate children attending at-tending school. A further1 study into the report was ordered by Mayor Murphy, with later developments de-velopments to be considered by the council. (Continued on Back Page) CITY WATER .... (Continued from Page 1) Other matters discussed included in-cluded authorization to hire a mowing machine to cut the weeds on city streets, and to clamp down on building permit violators. It was re-emphasized by the council that any type of home or business construction within the city must have an application made by the owner for a permit. People are urged to contact the city office for a permit before the building is done. |
