Show ENGAGEMENT IS I ANNOUNCED j TRIDELL (Special) Bishop and Mrs. H. LeRoy Morrill, of Tridell, announce the engagement engage-ment and coming marriage of their daughter, Isola Beth, to Ray Haslem, son of Mr. and Mrs Clair Haslem, of Bennett. The wedding will take place January 19, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. temple. The bride-elect graduated from the Alterra high school last spring as an honor student, and has been, attending the Utah State Agricultural college at Logan this year. Mr. Haslem, also a graduate of Alterra high school, is a veteran vet-eran of two and a half years in the Merchant Marine "service. "ser-vice. He is employed at present with Leavitt Equipment Inc., Roosevelt. The young couple will make their home near Roosevelt. BRIDGETTE FETED Members of Bridgette were feted at a lovely appointed luncheon last Thursday night by their hostess, Mrs. Bill Mur-dock, Mur-dock, with the following! attending: at-tending: Mrs. Bill Nelson, Mrs. Ken Aycock, Mrs. A. B. Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. Mrs. Clem Labrum. Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Orson Stevens and Mrs. Steve Bellon. ALTRUS CONVENES "Cry, The Beloved Country," by Alan Paton, was very capably cap-ably reviewed for Altrus club last Wednesday night by Mrs. Don Johnson, when members convened at the home of Mrs. Earl Dillman, with Mrs. Bob Andrews acting as co-hostess. Adorning the mantle was a gorgeous arrangement of pink carnations, accented by white tapers at either side. A delicious dessert luncheon was served to the following: Mrs. Omni Winterton, Mrs. E. J. Nixon, Mrs. Louis Jensen, Mrs. John Swenson, Mrs. Randall Ran-dall Stewart, Mrs. Homer Edwards, Ed-wards, Mrs. Les Mullins, Mrs. Dwain Buchanan, Mrs. Ralph Shields and Mrs. Johnson. BIRTHDAY HONORED Marvell Nielson was honored on his birthday, Sunday evening, eve-ning, when Mrs. Neilson entertained enter-tained at dinner for the following fol-lowing guests: Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bellon, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Labrum, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Killian, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Eldredge. A delicious dinner was served to the guests seated at one long table, centered with the attractive birthday cake, with lighted yellow tapers in crystal holders at either end. Following dinner, the guests played canasta. RELIEF SOCIETY. ROOSEVELT WARD The next regular meeting of the Relief Society of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt ward is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, when the literary lesson will be given by Mrs. Don Johnson. Mrs. Bruce Smith, president, requests all members to be present. AUXILIARY MEETS AT FORT DUCHESNE The American Legion Auxiliary, Aux-iliary, Basin Unit 64, met Tuesday Tues-day night at the home of Mrs. Sylvia Oberhansley in Fort Duchesne, Du-chesne, with Mrs. Mary Burgess, president, taking charge. Main feature of the business meeting was the planning for a public card party to be held sometime in January at the American Legion barracks. Mrs. Norma Bellon was appointed chairman for the party, wtih Mrs. Bliss Eldredge as assistant chairman. A delicious luncheon was served to the following: Mrs Muriel Kolb. Mrs. Mary Burgess, Bur-gess, Mrs. Bliss Eldredge, Mrs. Afton Lambert, Mrs. Georgina Costuros, Mrs. Clista Angus, Mrs. Alice Aycock, Mrs. Leah Allred, Mrs. Irma Sutteer, and the hostess. SLUMBER PARTY It was a gala event for the eight girls who were guests last Friday evening of Miss Nancy Rockwood at a slumber party. After attending the theatre, thea-tre, the group enjoyed a pot-luck pot-luck supper and slumber party at the Rockwood home. Enjoying the night of fun, and very little slumber, were: Maria Ma-ria Pulos, Diane Nelson, Patsy Gines, Carol Memmott, Kara Lyn Smith, Beoma Young, Dor-thy Dor-thy Dillman, Maurine Ivory, and the hostess. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING A delightful evening was enjoyed en-joyed at the home of Mrs. D. Piatt Woodland last Wednesday, Wednes-day, Jan. 3, by members of the Neighborhood Sewing club, when sewing and visiting comprised com-prised the evening's entertainment. entertain-ment. TUESDAY BRIDGE Mrs. Fred Ferron presided over ov-er a lovely arranged dessert luncheon and bridge Tuesday evening in compliment to her club members and a special guest, Mrs. Margaret Ruppel. Winners at bridge were Mrs. J. V. McLea and Mrs. Howard Harrison, with bingo prize going go-ing to Mrs. Sam Weiss. SOCIALETTE CLUB Mrs. Donald Laris played hostess last Thursday night to the Socialette club, with Mrs. Jack Carter as co-hostess. High-, light of the evening was a textile tex-tile painting demonstration presented pre-sented by Mrs. Louis Laris. A delectable dessert luncheon was served to members and two special guests, Miss Esther Wo-gec Wo-gec and Miss Ruth Young. FIRESIDE CHAT Fireside chat for the Roosevelt Roos-evelt ward was held at the chapel cha-pel Sunday night, with a testimonial tes-timonial meeting the feature of the evening. Opening prayer was given by DeLoss Brown, and closing prayer by Darlene Brown. Singing was led by David Wilson. In attendance were: Edith Hardinger, Donna Todd, Irene Blanchard, Dolores Brown, Vernon Buchanan, Joan Nielson land Howard Ivory. Sandwiches and punch were served by Miss Biancnara, miss Brown and Miss Nielson. YOUNG FARMERS' AUXILIARY MEETS Members of the Young Farmers' Farm-ers' Auxiliary met Thursday, January 4, at the Roosevelt high school. All present enjoyed en-joyed an evening of textile painting, under the direction of Mrs. Sarah Brokaw and Mrs. I Virginia Nielson. jPhe group planned a party for February 1 for all Young i Farmers and their partners. RELIEF SOCIETY SECOND WARD The Relief Society of the Roosevelt LDS second ward will have a work and business meeting meet-ing next Thursday commencing at 10 a. m.
