Show Construction Of Local Housing Unit Hay Get Underway In 60 Days, If . . . Construction of the proposed Roosevelt housing unit may get underway within the next 60 days unless further controls are clamped on financing, according accord-ing to a letter received by E. J. Nixon, Lions club housing chairman, from B. D. Scott, of the Felt Syndicate, Salt Lake City. Mr. Scott wrote that recently announced federal controls on finance had delayed plans in Roosevelt, and made housing finance, in general, hazardous. "As you know," Mr. Scott explained, ex-plained, "President Truman recently re-cently made certain proclamations proclama-tions regarding financing and credit in regard to residential construction in particular. The new regulations have to a great extent curtailed residential construction, con-struction, especially in the field of finance." However, with the reception of financial regulations, plans for a local housing unit of 50 homes are the same as announced an-nounced several weeks ago, Mr. Scott said. He continued that if circumstances circum-stances will permit, L. E. Broad-hurst, Broad-hurst, of the Felt Syndicate, will be in Roosevelt within the next few days to investigate the local situation further. The building potential of the firm is now greater than ever, the letter read, but "if further changes should develop in the housing picture, it may be entirely en-tirely impractical to expand our program until such time as the field shows more stability." "This is Mr. Scott's major 'if in regard to a local housing unit," Mr. Nixon said. |
