Show 03k& j & ii BASIN POST NO. 64 BY BILL MURDOCK The Get Out and Vote Com-rnlittee, Com-rnlittee, Fran Harrison, Dale Ashby and Rae Scholes, has done an important service to the community by putting before the public that it is their God-given God-given right as an American to VOTE. As American Legion members mem-bers let us vote and see that everyone around us votes. Let's remember, too, we can't vote unless we are registered. -oOo- The District Convention news is a little late, but you know what they say. . . Vernal Whit-beck Whit-beck Post played host to a very outstanding crowd. Department officers Stated that it was one of (their better conferences. Thanks to Stewart Ashton, post commander, and his Post for a very entertaining and instructive instruc-tive afternoon. The Auxiliary served a delicious banquet I know everyone enjoyed it. oOo- We, of District 9, again carry the "Big Stick." Commander Gal Monks was presented the Big Gavel by Merd Garner, Dist. 8 commander, who has held the gavel for some time. The Big Gavel is awarded the district showing- the greatest increase in-crease in membership in a given giv-en quarter (of a year). The Big Gavel is to truth the Big Stick. It is three feet long and weighs about 10 pounds. oOo- A fellow asked, what will the American Legion do for me? (when he was asked to' join his Post). The reply was, it isn't a question of what it will do for you, what are you going to do for the American Legion, your community, state and nation. |
