Show Dr. R. V. Larson Seeks Post On State School Board When the voters of four counties coun-ties of the state, Uintah, Duchesne, Du-chesne, Wasatch and Utah, go to the polls next Nov. 2nd, among the ballots they will receive re-ceive will be one containing candidates for the office of state school board member from Dis-' trict No. 4. I Among the candidates is Dr. R. Vernon Larson, practicing physician and surgeon, prominent prom-inent church leader and an active civic worker from Roosevelt. Roose-velt. A native of Smithfield, Utah, where he was born in 1908, a son of Supt. and Mrs. R. V. Larson, he attended schools at Smithfield and North Cache High School, and graduated grad-uated from the Utah State Agricultural Ag-ricultural College in 1929. After teaching one year at North Cache High, he entered the George Washington University ! at Washington, D- C, from which he received his medical degree in 1935. After completing his medical oourse, Dr. Larson returned to Smithfield where he practiced medicine until 1940, when he entered the United States Army. He received his honorable discharge dis-charge in Feb., 1946 as a Lt. Col. After His : discharge from the Army he began practicing medicine in Roosevelt. An aotive member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served two years as a counselor in the Roosevelt stake presidency, a position he was holding when called as bishop of the Roosevelt Roose-velt ward, serving- for three years. He is a past president of the Smithfield Kiwanis Club, and is now affiliated with the Roosevelt Lions Club and Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce. The state school board candidate can-didate is married to the former Helen Oalder, of Vernal, and they are the parents of six children. chil-dren. In seeking the position on the state school board, Dr. Larson, expressed his interest in continued con-tinued development and growth of Utah's Public School System. He pledges himself to work for the interests of the entire state if it be the will of the people that he be chosen as their servant. |
