Show Schmiett Elected Democratic County Chairman To Replace J. P. Madsen Latter Receives Big Ovation In Recognition Of Service Duchesne county Democrats elected B e n n i e Schmiett as county chairman to replace J. P. Madsen, Duchesne, at their convention held Saturday in the bandroom of Duchesne high school. Following his defeat. Madsen was given a big ovation by the 53 voting delegates in recognition recogni-tion of his many years of faithful faith-ful service to the party. Mrs. Clarence White, of Tabiona, Tab-iona, was elected chairwomen; and Chairman Schmiett Tuesday Tues-day ' nominated Mrs. Evelyn A. Schmiett as secretary, and C. H. Labrum, treasurer. Eleven delegates were elected elect-ed to the state convention, to be held May 6 in Salt Lake. They are W. H. Linck, Myton; Geddes Lindsay, Mt. Home; Ed Carman, Duchesne; J. P. Madsen, Mad-sen, Duchesne;. Bennie Schmiett, Roosevelt; Ray Brown, Mont-wel; Mont-wel; Arzy Mitchell, Duchesne; Floyd Case, Mt. Emmons; Jesse A. Fowler, Altonah; Lynn Hansen, Han-sen, Mt. Emmons; and Mrs. Clarence White, Tabiona. Principal speaker of the evening eve-ning was Secretary of State Heber Bennion, Jr. Local speakers speak-ers included Senator Lynn Or-ser, Or-ser, Roosevelt, and Lawrence Weeks, Altonah. |
