Ivory Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District News Ranchers in the Fruitland area are now making arrangements arrange-ments for clearing sagebrush and getting the seed lined up for planting next month. This is a good practice because last minute min-ute plans frequently fall short of expectations. s C s John Strang and Howard Passey spent last week planning the "Diamond S" ranch on the upper Strawberry river watershed. water-shed. Plans will be prepared to treat each acre according to its neds and to use it according accord-ing to its capabilities. s C s Mr. Passey, range specialist with the SCS, had a chance to visit some of Bert Coleman's crested wheat grass seeding on his range west of Fruitland and stated this was some of the best he had seen in the state. Mr. Passey emphasized that crested wheat is a grass which produces Jots of milk, and therefore, the lambs and calves from crested wheat grass pastures get off to a good start. s C s Grant Chugg and Alton Vernon Vern-on have completed land leveling level-ing calculations for Vern Huff and O. H. Moore at Leota. This plan was unique in that a land swamp was involved in order to fit the leveling program to the contour of the land. s Cs John Swenson and Don B. " Nielson are making a drainage investigation on the W. E. Burton Bur-ton farm in Myton. s C s John Uresk is in the process of leveling 30 acres of farm land on his place. This is new , lan which is being put into production and the leveling involves in-volves heavy cuts and fills. s C s A meeting for district supervisors super-visors throughout the state of Utah wah held Wednesday of this week at Manti, Utah. A tffur of some of the conservation practices being applied in the Sanpete area was the highlight of the meeting. |
