Show Kiwanis Honors Union High lasketfial! team The Roosevelt Kiwanis Club honored members of the Union High School basketball team, who last week completed the 1953 season undefeated in league play and will enter the class "B" tournament in ProVo as champions of the Uintah Basin Ba-sin division of Region Five. Also Al-so guests of the club were Principal Prin-cipal L. F. Hutchings, Coaches Glen Allred and Elden Wright, and team managers. The Child Welfare committee, headed by Bert Burgess, was in charge of the program, which consisted of a piano solo by Burk Eldredge, and two vocal solos by Evan Schilen. A bas: ketball film showing the Utah-California Utah-California game played in Salt Lake Feb. 6 was the feature of I the entertainment for the guests, along with a film on Skiing in Colorado. David Watkins was the toastmaster. Two new Kiwanians, Vean Bair and John Wogec, were inducted in-ducted under the direction of the Education committee with Cliff Memmott officiating in the induction ceremony. Next week the club will be nrpspntpH with a nrnpram fmm the Future Farmers unit from Union High School. The Agri-I cultural committee will be in ' charge, with J. C. Zimmerman I as chairman. I |
