It doesn't take many of these to eat as much as a farm animal. They are out now and should be controlled. County Coun-ty commissioners and Fish and Wild Service are cooperating with us in a rodent control program. pro-gram. Through it you can obtain ob-tain poinsoned grain for prairie dogs, ground squirrels and mice. Well, the first of March is here again and with it comes the annual National 4 - H Achievement Week. Now is the time for the officers and members mem-bers of last year's 4-H, Clubs to contact their friends and their leader and plan on organizing again this year. Any boys and girls who want to start in 4-H work should talk to their friends about it, and then contact us at the Extension Office. We were really thrilled last week to be able to attend the 34th Annual State 4-H Leaders Training School. This school is held at the U.S.A. C. campus every year. This year we were there the week of February 23-28. 23-28. We were very proud -to have two of our county 4-H leaders go to the school with us. Mar-lene Mar-lene Bleazard from Talmage, went and received helpful suggestions sug-gestions for her to take back to her 1st phase clothing club, which she will lead this summer. sum-mer. Marlene already has her club girls lined up and ready to go. She has had several years club work as a member. The other leader that went to Logan with us was Keith Lemon Lem-on from Ioka. Keith has led a boys 4-H Club for 3 years, and has had many years experience as a 4-H Club member. Keith has been working with his boys on a year-round basis. At the school, the morning sessions were just general, in which we all learned about improving im-proving our clubs. Then in the afternoon, we had classes where we learned about our specific projects. There were courses given giv-en in foods, clothing, home improvement, im-provement, dairy, beef, swine, sheep, crops and gardens, elec-1 trification, and home grounds beautification. We were all thrilled to hear about 4-H Club work in Colorado Colo-rado from C. G. Staver; and also al-so to' hear from Mayor Earl J. Glade and Elder Mark E. Peterson. Peter-son. The school was very successful success-ful and all of the leaders and county agents benefitted from it and at the same time, thor oughly enjoyed their stay at Logan. A weekly radio program will be presented by Duchesne County Coun-ty Extension Service over station sta-tion KJAM at Vernal, each Friday Fri-day morning at 7:00 a.m. beginning be-ginning March 6th. It will include in-clude interesting and useful information in-formation on agriculture, home economics and 4-H Club work. You are invited to tune in. |
