Rural Life Education Conference Planned The second Rural Life and Education Conference of Duchesne Du-chesne County, will be held Friday, March 13 at the Altamont Alta-mont High School announce Supt. Dean C. Christensen and Principal Lawrell Jensen, co-chairmen co-chairmen for the all-day event. On Thursday evening at 6:30, a luncheon will be held in the Altamont Home Economics room for conference committee members, mem-bers, guest speakers, group leaders, consultants and sum-marizers. sum-marizers. During this evening session, Mark Nichols, Salt Lake City, who is in charge of the Western States Rural Life Conference, Con-ference, will give brief remarks. Commencing the Friday sessions ses-sions will be a general session, commencing at 9:30 a.m. with community, singing led. by Floyd Ross. A message of welcome will be given by E. L. Murphy, president of the Duchesne County Coun-ty Board of Education. Keynote speaker for the morning meeting meet-ing will be Dr. LeGrande Noble from the USAC. Musical numbers num-bers will be pre'sented by the Duchesne High School mixed chorus, under the direction of Lloyd N. Beckstead, and instructions in-structions to participants will be given by Principal C. D. Bristol Bris-tol of the Altamont school. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon group discussions ivill be held; from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. luncheon will be served at the school lunch room; groun discussions will continue from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.; and reports of group summarizers will be presented from 2:30 to 4:00 p. m. Conference summarizer will be Dr. Daryl Chase, from the Branch Agricultural College at Cedar City. Musical numbers will be presented pre-sented by the . Altamont High School chorus and string band, under the direction of Miss Af-ton Af-ton Smithson. Another entertaining feature of the day . will be a free picture pic-ture show from 4:00 to 6:00 p. m. at the Altamont Theatre, through the courtesy of Leland Stevenson, manager. Luncheon will be served at 6:0,0 pm. in the school lunch room. - Highlight of the conference will be the evening program which will begin at 8 p.m. when a very special program has been arranged and will be presented through the courtesy of , tha Brigham Young University International In-ternational Club. Various nationality na-tionality programs and native dress will be displayed at this outstanding program. Chairman for arrangements is Mr. A. G. Hawkins, faculty member of the Altamont High School. All features of the conference will be free of charge with the exceptions of the two luncheons, for which a minimum fee will be collected. Housing accommodations at Altamont will be open to all consultants, guests, etc. Thursday, Thurs-day, and there will be transportation trans-portation to Altamont provided for all guests arriving by bus in Duchesne, Myton or Roosevelt. Roose-velt. All schools in Duchesne County Coun-ty will be closed Friday, March 13, to encourage complete county coun-ty participation in this wonderful wonder-ful day designed for the "Improving "Im-proving of Rural Living." All residents of Duchesne County are invited to come and participate. parti-cipate. This includes parents, teachers, business people, farmers, farm-ers, high school students, or county visitors.
