Educational Pictures Shown I Arthur Drown, of Provo, district dis-trict manager of the Mountain States Telephone Co., enter tained friends at the Lynn Orser residence Saturday evening with three educational films, one showed the laying of the tcli-vision tcli-vision cable; one depicted telephone tele-phone courtesy; and the third detailed the rigors of winter telephone line patrols. Tentative arrangements are underway to show these films at future PTA and Lions club meetings. Mrs. Jim Miller and Mrs. Mark Bellon, of Salt Lake, arrived ar-rived last Sunday to make the acquaintance of the new little daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Lynn Labrum. Mrs. Miller will visit with her daughter, Mrs. Labrum, for a week. Miss VaLois Long, vice. president presi-dent of the state Home Economic club, attended a meeting of state officers at the Governor s room in the State Capitol build-iing build-iing Saturday. Plans and arranger menls were discussed for the statewide convention which will be held in Salt Lake. City in April. ' Mr. and Mrs. Clifford L. Fret-well Fret-well and daughter, Yvonne, returned re-turned Sunday night after attending at-tending a three day convention of the Utah State Press Association Associ-ation in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Anderson are back in town after a vacation vaca-tion trip to California that lasted just three days. In explaining their quick return Mr. Anderson stated that he found Roosevelt "just as good as California," an opinion with which we heartily agree. I D U P The Daughters of Utah Pioneers Pio-neers will meet Friday, Jan 24 at the home of Mildred Smith. Members and eligible members are urged to attend. Clair Larsen, manager of the Larsen Bottling works reports that the well he has been dril-l ling "paid off" last week by producing a flow of 3 gallons of water a minute. The well water, wa-ter, Mr. Larsen said, will be used for bottling soda pop. Contributors to the Daughters of the Pioneers history have been granted an extension for submitting their material to the D U P for publication. March. 1 has been designated as the dead' line, and all written material must be submitted on or before that date. The American Legion Auxiliary Aux-iliary party, scheduled for Saturday Sat-urday evening, Jan. 18, has been postponed indefinitely, Lpgign officers announce. " ' Bible Class The Ladies' Bible Class continues con-tinues to meet each week, growing grow-ing in nteres gnd numbers. The group will meet with Mrs. H. C. Johnson this Thursday at 3 p.m. Information regarding the time and place of the next meeting meet-ing may be obtained by calling Mrs. Harold Dillman. Baptist Church The Roosevelt Baptist church conducted an all day event Sunday, Sun-day, Jan, 5, with regular Sunday school and Sunday services held between the hours of 10 a. m. and 12 m, Dinner was served at noon in the church basement to the 62 in attendance. Guests were present from the Artesia and Vernal Baptist churches, the Gusher Union Sunday school and the Roosevelt Bible Mission. Rev. John Alexander, pastor of the church in Artesia, brought the afternoon message. Rev. R. E. Cure, of the Roosevelt Baptist Bap-tist church, officiated during the testimony meeting and baptismal services. These meetings will be held every fifth Sunday. The next will be held in Artesia, Colorado. Officers elected for the new organization are Harold Dillman of Roosevelt, president; Mrs. George Wilson, pf Vernal, secretary, sec-retary, and 'I'om Elliott, of Artesia, Ar-tesia, treasurer. |
