Show Moose velt Fish Amid Game Club Schedules Election With PBea IF oir Stiremigthesded Umi 'Sportsmen Plan s For Rebuilding Of Strong Game Club THE Roosevelt Fish and Game club will elect officers Monday, March 29, at 8 p.ym. and launch upon a program to re-establish .itself firmly as a strong wildlife wild-life conservation group. President Presi-dent Cliff Rockwood-has called the meeting for 8 p. m. in the directors' room of the Commercial Commer-cial Club. Once an active group sponsoring" sponsor-ing" national, . state and local conservation, the Roosevelt Fish and Game club suffered, as did many others, from lack of interest in-terest resulting from the war years. The lethargy still prevails and combined with other factors has proved detrimental to the organization. Recognizing that hunting, fishing fish-ing and general out-of-doors recreation rec-reation has become one of the primary Dusiness enterprises oi the nation, the Fish and Game club plans, as one of its objectives, objec-tives, to promote the rod and gun sports befitting the opportunities oppor-tunities provided by the Uintah Basin. Both national and state wildlife wild-life conservation officials understand under-stand that the annual turn over of cash in the United States for out-of-doors recreation exceeds $1 billion. And local fish and game organizations hold the key spot in developing wildlife resources re-sources for the benefit of their respective communities. HOW much is spent in the Uintah Basin during the fishing, deer and pheasant seasons has never been estimated, but on the basis of more than $1,500,000 spent in Utah for hunting and fishing it is safe to assume that local business houses reap a fair harvest during the open game .seasons. To stimulate further expenditures ex-penditures by sponsoring constructive con-structive policies that will assure as-sure an increased flow of wild- . life for resident and non-resident sportsmen, is a part of the Fish and Game club's blue-print for the coming year. Regular educational features presented by the Utah Fish and Game department, Forest Service, Ser-vice, and Fish and Wildlife Service Ser-vice as a means of arousing interest in-terest in the Roosevelt Fish and Game club will come up for discussion dis-cussion Monday night. Means of financing its proposed program is also included on the agenda. The election of officers will be limited to present members of the Fish and Game club, but participation in the discussions centering around the rejuvinat-ing rejuvinat-ing of the group will be open to all persons in attendance. Les Mullins has been named by President Rockwood as chairman chair-man of the election. |
