Show BYU initiates (Drivers Course For Teachers Aimed at promoting safer driving on Utah's highways, a special Driver Education Institute Insti-tute for high school teachers will be held August 29 through Sept. 3 at Brigham Young University in Provo. Each school district in Utah should send at least one teacher to the course, according to state officials endorsing the program. The course will prepare teachers teach-ers lo instruct junior high and high school students in safe driving practices which will pay safety dividends to every com-J munity in the slate. Organizations concerned with traffic safety which are cooperating cooper-ating in sponsoring the institute arc: Utah Safety Council, Utah Stale Press Assn., State Department Depart-ment of Public Instruction. Utah Congress of Parents and Teachers, Teach-ers, Utah Stale Road Patrol, Utah Automobile Dealers Assn.. Extension Division, BYU. and Department of health, physical education, and recreation, BYU. The course will be taught by Marland K. Strasscr of New York City, driver training specialist spec-ialist for the American Assn. of Casualty and Surety companies. Sessions of the institute will be held from 8 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. rl.iilv for five davs at the uni- versily campus, and two hours of university credit will be given each participant. Registration and books will be covered by a $10 enrollment fee and board and room will be available for S10 during the course, if desired. Enrollment in the course should be made by writing to the Extension Division at BYU. |
