Show Farmers Union Steady To Finance Gas Station Deal MEETINGS under the auspices of the seven Farmers Union locals lo-cals have been held in almost every Uintah Basin community during the last ten days with G. N. Hamm. Farmers Union representative, rep-resentative, explaining the workings work-ings of the cooperative. Out of the meetings has come the announcement that a change in the managership of the Duchesne Du-chesne flour mill which how operates op-erates as the Farmers Exchange Co-op. will be made in the immediate im-mediate future. The Farmers Union, it is disclosed, will "foot the bills," of the Duchesne plant for a period sufficient to insure competent management. It will be turned back later to the farmers. farm-ers. Local Farmers Union officials revealed Monday that approximately approxi-mately $10,000 has been raised toward the purchasing of the Uinta service, which will also be a coooerativc. Farmers Union has pledged a loan of $20,000 at 4 per cent interest to aid the locals in acquiring' the Uinta service. THE investment committee named to handling the financing nf thp station to be known as the Uintah Farmers Union Cooperative Co-operative is made up of the following: fol-lowing: Rulon Anderton, Roosevelt, chairman; Tal Wardle. Neola, secretary; Ray Brown, Montwel; Frank Monks, Myton; Hale Hol-gale, Hol-gale, Arcadia; George Brandon, Mt. Home; Del Mar Mecham. Mt. Emmons; Darrell Goodrich. Tri-dell; Tri-dell; and G. NvHamm, members. A final meeting to complete investment arrangements will be held December 1, in the Roosevelt Roos-evelt high school auditorium. The Uintah Basin Farmers Union will be officially set up at that time and a board of directors elected. The meeting is scheduled for 8 p. m. and all interested Basin farmers are invited to attend. |
